While the Orissa High Court here on Friday adjourned the hearing of a writ petition filed by a layers’ forum to October 29, the lawyers of Cuttack, including those of the High Court, also decided to extend their ongoing strike till October 26.
The High Court will remain closed on account of Puja vacation from October 15 to October 25. The lawyers of Cuttack have been boycotting their respective courts and tribunals from August 29 following a police assault on one of the city lawyers on August 28.
While as many as four FIRs are registered in this connection, including three against the concerned lawyer and all these four cases are currently being investigated by an IGP-rank officer, the striking lawyers have approached the High Court seeking a judicial inquiry into the police assault.
