Unidentified miscreants on Tuesday morning hacked a lawyer to death at Bahira village under the Baunsuni Police Station limits in Boudh district.
The deceased Hemant Sahoo was also a BJP leader and the party’s Boudh district unit legal cell convenor.
As per reports, Sahoo was attacked by some assailants early on Tuesday morning while he was on a morning walk. A profusely bleeding Sahoo succumbed to his injuries on the spot. local people found him lying in a pool of blood and informed the police.
A team of policemen along with senior officials of Baunsuni Police Station rushed to the spot and began investigation. The local police recovered the body and sent it for post mortem.
The gruesome murder could be fallout of past enmity, sources said. A few years ago miscreants also murdered the deceased’s father. Meanwhile, Boduh district SP B Ganadhar said it could be a fall out of previous enmity and investigation was on from all angles. In the meantime, BJP party State unit president KV Singh Deo condemned the murder and condoled the death of Sahoo.
“The murder of Sahoo is a great loss to the party,” said Deo in his condolence message, demanding early arrest of the culprits involved in the brutal killing.
