A woman was arrested and forwarded to court by the Rourkela police on Thursday for allegedly throwing acid at the face of another woman, whom she suspected having an extramarital relationship with her husband. The accused woman had allegedly attacked the victim woman on Wednesday evening when the latter was standing near the Rourkela railway station. Besides, a passerby youth was also injured in the incident.
The arrested woman was identified as Mani Kirai (45), a resident of Bondamunda of the city. Mani's husband Kissan Kirai (55), works as a lawyer. A woman, Chandrakanti Moharana (45), a client of Mani's husband, used to frequently come in contact with Kissan. Of late, Mani had started suspecting about the relationship between her husband and the woman client and the couple was quarreling in regular intervals.
Chandrakanti and the youth identified as Anand Lakra were rushed to the Rourkela Government Hospital, where Anand was released after first aid.
