The Naveen Patnaik-led BJD Government has diluted laws and work of police in the State according to its likes and for the benefits of the party’s tainted leaders, said the BJP on Monday.
May it be the case of BJD people accused in a rape case or indicted for corruption in fertilisers deals, the Government has never let law take its own course against ruling party men. But it has crossed the limits in an attempt to suppress the issue of Advocate General Ashok Mohanty’s alleged purchase of a house from the tainted Artha Tatwa CMD Pradeep Sethy, alleged BJP State spokesperson Sajjan Sharma.
He said the Para 18 of the counter affidavit the State Government has submitted in the Supreme Court states that a Mercedese Benz car was seized by the Economic Offences Wing on June 10 from one Pilakhi Swain, who had bought the car from Astha International’s Subhransu lenka on March 13, 2013 by paying Rs 8 lakh.
Even a case was registered against Swain for buying the car from tainted lenka. However, Swain got bail form the High Court.Notably, Para 21 of the same affidavit states that Ashok Mohanty had bought a house from Pradeep Sethy in Cuttack before Sethy’s arrest on May 12, 2013. However, a case had already been registered against Sethy with the Kharavela Nagar police station on February 7, 2013 and the police were in search of Sethy since then, Sharma pointed out.
Here lies the question that if Swain was arrested for buying a car on March 13 then why no action was taken against Mohanty for buying a house on March 22. Even several reports about the alleged cheating of Sethy were published in the media. It is surprising that even if Mohanty was aware of Sethy’s involvement in the duping of people in his chit fund business, he didn’t hesitate in buying the house from him, Sharma alleged.
Again if Swain’s Mercedes was seized and a case was registered against him for buying the car from lenka on March 23 then why no case was registered against Mohanty for buying the house on March 22. The reason behind such a hurried transaction between Mohanty, Sethy and the Government is well-known to them. On whose behest law took its course here, questioned Sharma.
