'law doesn't go its own way in State'

BJP State president Basant Panda on Sunday said law is not going its own way in Odisha as claimed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

“If law was going its own way, (ruling BJD) MlA Prasant Jagdev, who has many criminal charges against him, would have been arrested,” said Panda in a statement. He said the Chief Minister, who always propagates ‘law will take its own course’, and Revenue Minister Bijayshree Routray have protected Begunia MlA Jagdev in woman Tehsildar attack case.

“Jagdev had thrashed police and Puri servitors during the Nabakalebar festival, attacked BJP workers in Manmunda, misbehaved with a lady teacher at a Begunia school, assaulted businessmen at his Government residence in Bhubaneswar, abused Minister Sanjay Dasburma in public, misbehaved with Khordha district Collector and SP in the SUM Hospital case and, lastly, attacked a woman tehsildar. It is disappointing that the departmental Minister has given clean chit to Jagadev in the woman tehsildar attack case at the instance of the Chief Minister,” Panda said.

Stating that the MlA’s unsavoury attitude is not at all acceptable, the he demanded that Jagdev be arrested at the earliest.
