The latest IT literacy programme, OS-CIT, was presented at an All-Secretaries Meet here on Tuesday.  The Odisha State Certificate in Information Technology (OS-CIT) is an IT course for basic IT learning, said Managing Director of Odisha Knowledge Corporation limited (OKCl) Santosh Birari. Birari presented the innovative and practical course, which is designed to educate State Government officers and employees about the ways by which information technology (IT) can be used in handling official files and dispatches.

With the essential eligibility criterion for recruitment to the posts of Grades A, B and C of the State Government and semi-Government organisations being made mandatory, the OKCl would provide the facility. As the IT literacy is a must for e-Governance as well as for day-to-day work in the Government and other organisations, e-learning is essential. In fact, the OS-CIT course is now offered by the Department of Higher Education (DoHE).

The course comprises lectures, demonstrations and hands-on practice sessions backed up by high-quality study materials. The OS-CIT offers evidence-based learning, which is available in Odia, Hindi and English for suitability of the learners. Birari said it is offering international standard learning, which various States in the country have opted for. The learning has been implemented by the Government of Maharashtra and Rajasthan and is being launched in Haryana. Countries like Saudi Arabia have approved the e-learning, which is being launched in Sri lanka too, he said.
