Three youths, including the key accused in last week’s Badambadi murder case, were arrested by the city police on Tuesday. A murder convict, Ganesh Rout (42) alias Nilei of Shankarpur, was killed near the bus terminus eight days ago.
City DCP Sanjeev Arora told reporters that main accused Seshadev Behera and two of his associates Rajesh Jena and Chandan Khuntia were arrested and the weapons of assault, two daggers, were seized from them. “Further arrests in the case cannot be ruled out,” Arora informed.
He said the July 14 murder was the outcome of previous rivalry between Seshadev and deceased Ganesh. Ganesh had murdered Seshavev’s father at the same place 14 years ago. “The arrested youths have confessed of having committed the crime during interrogation,” the police said.
