Land transfer to IDCO protested in Dhinkia

Published on:

Tension prevailed in Dhinkia panchayat under Erasama block on Wednesday with the villagers staging a protest, opposing a Revenue Department notification concerning transfer of a patch of Government land to IDCO.

Hundreds of villagers including  women converged at Phulakhai temple and held a protest meeting opposing the notification and rushed to Dhinkia panchayat office where they burnt the notice that was displayed on a notice board.

The notice had been issued by the Erasama tehsil on August 18, saying that 746 acres land from Nuagaon panchayat would be transferred to IDCO, for industrial use.

The notification had instructed the general public and local residents to furnish their opinion through affidavit and relevant records before the Tehsildar Erasama within 30 days.

Dhinkia Panchayat Samiti member Debendra Swain questioned as to why the notice was displayed late in Dhinkia panchayat.

Nityananda Swain who presided over the protest meeting alleged that the administration was trying to ignore the local residents in the matter and the notice was eyewash.
