Kendrapada SP Satish Kumar Gajbhiye has suspended constable Swarup Ranjan Das of the Sadar police station for absconding over last one month. He is charged of duping people in a land scam case. According to the SP, accused Das duped lakhs of rupees from several people of Indupur area on the pretext of selling his land to them.
Akhaya Kumar Mallick of Indupur on September 15, 2013 had filed a case at Nikirai police station against Das. Even, his bail petition was rejected by the Odisha High Court.
In April last, the SP had directed the Nikirai IIC to arrest the errant constable. However, he was at large. Given his unauthorised absence, he had been issued notices and repeated reminders to join duty but in vain.
