The registration process for lease deed of land earmarked for the Tata Steel's multi-product Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Gopalpur in Ganjam district began at the Sub-Registrar Office at Chhatrapur on Friday. In the first phase, total 1,235 acre of land was registered. "With the registration of land in favour of the company, the TATA Steel hopes to get the SEZ notification for Gopalpur from the Union Government in November. The company will launch Gopalpur as an investment destination by December. Tata Steel authorities have already talked to investors in China and South East Asia, who have evinced interest to invest in the Gopalpur SEZ," said Tata Steel SEZ ltd Arun Misra.
The Gopalpur Industrial Park being developed by the Tata Steel will facilitate industrial development of the region to a great extent, Misra said. Besides generating substantial employment opportunities, the park will also contribute to the all-round socio-economic development of the area, he added.
