leaseholder sets up school instead of eye hospital
Recently several cases have cropped up confirming misuse of Government leasehold land in the district here. Filing a petition with the district Collector, Dhenkanal Surakhya Samiti convener Priyabrat Gadnayak alleged that Kalinga Eye Hospital secretary Sarangadhar Samal had got an acre of Government land at Govindpur village in Dhenkanal bearing Khata No. 1064 and 987/690 on lease basis after entering into an agreement with the Government to set up an eye hospital.
But leaseholder Samal, violating the terms and conditions, opened ODM School and Neesadri College on the land instead of the eye hospital. Gadanayak demanded early restoration of the land from the leaseholder and threatened a stir if it was not done soon.
Notably, another Government land near Balaram temple leased out to Dr Radhanath Mishra long days back was sold to a private person. A plot of land and a building leased out for purpose of a Dharmasala is now under the possession of a Sishu Mandir. Again, a land leased out to Congress party has been rented out to various traders.
