Police on Thursday recovered two dead bodies from a dilapidated well covered with stone and clay at Kuskila village under the Jarapada police station in Angul district.

The police detained Jhasaketan Roul, a local chit fund and land mafia in this connection.

Jogesh Sahu and Hiranakhya Sahu of Kuskila were missing since February 4. Though the family members complained about the involvement of Jhasaketan in the incident, the police had not taken any action.

State Mahila Congress president Sasmita Behera and family members of the deceased met SP Rajesh Pandit and complained about the inaction of the local police. The SP immediately transferred the Jarpada PS IIC and specially investigated the case and detained Jhasaketan. Getting details about the crime from Jhasaketan, police dug the dilapidated well and recovered the bodies.

It was revealed that Jhasaketan earned a lot of illegal money through chit fund and land business. He had given Rs 70 lakh to the deceased persons to arrange some land. The deceased persons were to return around Rs 40 lakh to him. There was a dispute on it between both the parties, and subsequently Jhasaketan killed the two persons.
