land Grant Policy for Bhubaneswar

The State Cabinet on Saturday approved a proposal of the General Administration (GA) Department for formulation of a land Grant Policy 2015 for allotment of Government land in Bhubaneswar to ensure comprehensive development of the State capital city, and, ultimately, in the State by encouraging orderly growth of residential, commercial and institutional areas.

The Cabinet, which met with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the chair, viewed that the policy would facilitate creation of essential infrastructures and amenities, promote the city’s ambience and balance the interests of different organisations and individuals in need of land in the city in a manner that would improve the quality of life, health, hygiene, safety and convenience of all.

The Government decided that land allotments would be made to the BDA, the BMC and cooperative societies. “There will be hardly any direct allotment from the GA Department,” Chief Secretary GC Pati said after the Cabinet meeting. In case of individual plot allotments, it would be done through auction. “However, there will be minimum chance for such type allotment,” Pati added. Earlier, the Government had formed a Cabinet Sub-Committee for recommendations on land allotments in the city. “The draft policy is prepared on the basis of the committee’s suggestions,” Pati informed.
