The Bhubaneswar-based franchisee IDCO-MCl Kalinga lancers who were finished runner up in the 4th Coal India Hockey India league, has been purchased one Indian and two overseas players for the fifth edition in the HIl auction held at Delhi on Wednesday.
Kalinga lancers added three midfielders in their team Odia player Nilam Sanjeep Xess, Australian Tom Caraig and Netherlander Billy Bakker in place of Stalin Victor Minz, Mathew Wills and Netherlander Quirijn Caspers.
Caraig and Bakker priced USD 67,000 and 31,000 respectively and Odia mid-fielder Sanjeep praiced USD 3,000.
Altogether four Odia players Dipsan Tirkey, Anand lakra, Amit Rohodas and Nilam Sanjeep Xess are in the local team. Other two Odia players Birendra lakra and Roshan Minz retained their place in the Ranchi Rays and Dabang Mumbai teams respectively.
This is not the first time lancers removed Odia players from the team. In the past the team management excluded two Odia hockey players - former Hockey India captain Prabodh Tirkey, Manjeet Kullu and this year Stalin Victor Minz.
Before removing Prabodh and Manjeet the technical committee was conducted a physical test, but in case of Stalin no such practices has been conducted. Most shockingly, the IDCO and MCl the owner of the franchises created the team in a motive to promote local players and Odisha hockey in National platform.
Not only players but also coach and physio of Odisha are also replaced in a motive that their not competent enough. Olympian lajrus Barla and Physio Mukti Prasad Dash were the part of the lancers team.
The changes we are making for the betterment of Kalinga lancers team. The technical committee recommended the players name for the removal, said Kalinga lancers mentor MP Dillip Tirkey.
