The historic Panchadala festival was held at Banpur with scores of devotees thronging the place to witness congregation 138 deities for two days on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Pithadisha of the fest Charan Chakadev invited all the deities, including Goddess Bhagabati, Rankanath Dev and Uma Maheswar Dev to the festival ground. All the deities came from their respective temples with decorated Bimans in a procession and gave darshan to all devotees.
Cracker competitions were also held on the occasion. Get together of all the deities, known as Melan was held on Wednesday evening, which was the main highlight of the festival
local MlA Bihuti Bhusan Harichandan distributed prizes while Tehsildar Pabitra Mohan Das and SDPO PK Routray among others conducted the function. Besides, social
welfare organisations Nehru Seva Sangh (NSS), Satya Sai Seva Sangh and Prajapita Iswariya Vidyalaya provided emergency services to people in need.
