The State Government on Thursday transferred labour and ESI Secretary CTM Suguna and posted her as the Commissioner of land Consolidation with immediate effect.
The decision to shift Suguna came after her department was accused of overlooking several instances of violation of labour laws by the Bhushan Steel ltd.
In view of the public outrage over the Bhushan blast putting Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in a spot, a search for scapegoats has begun with Suguna being shifted from her labour Department post, according to sources.
Forests & Environment Secretary RK Shrma will now hold the additional charge as the labour & ESI Secretary until further orders.
