The 13-day-long wait of the Commissionerate Police and also of Ruchika Helpline officials ended after the Kyrgyzstan woman, who was rescued on March 23 by the police for her alleged
involvement in immoral activities, was handed over to an embassy official of her country who arrived here from New Delhi on Tuesday.
The woman, who had confessed to be part of the immoral activities as per the police, left the correctional home with the lady embassy official with an emotional ‘Thank you’ note and wearing an Odia saree.
Earlier on arrival in the city, the embassy official rushed to the Chandrasekharpur police station and later visited the Ruchika Helpline where the woman was kept after her rescue from a flat at 6th Avenue Apartment in Shree Vihar.
The embassy official also talked to members of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and inquired about her health.
“She has a valid visa and passport. She will be taken to New Delhi by the embassy official, and from there she will be sent to her country. A friend of the woman arranged a ticket for the purpose,” said Ruchika Helpline Director Benudhar Senapati. Though her visa was valid up to March 31, the Kyrgyzstan Embassy is likely to facilitate her travel to New Delhi. She was issued a Kyrgyz passport in the first week of February this year and an Indian tourist visa a few days later. The woman had arrived in Delhi on February 25 and reached Bhubaneswar on March 22, a day before she was rescued by cops.
Police had contacted the Kyrgyzstan Embassy in New Delhi after the woman was rescued. The sex worker had become a headache for both the police and correctional home officials as she resorted to hurt herself with blades and even used slangs to the officials.
