Speculations were rife on Friday that BJP legislature Party leader and four-time Patnagarh MlA KV Singh Deo would be chosen by the party high command as the party’s State unit on Saturday.
State party leaders too have confirmed that central leadership of the party has held discussions with them regarding the latest move.
The State BJP has been in limbo after the three-year tenure of Jual Oram as the president ended in December and the high command asked the state party leaders to find a consensus candidate.
The State leaders failed to appoint a successor shifting the ball to the central leadership’s court. It was initially thought that the race was between Singh Deo, Nayan Mohanty and Basant Panda. Rajnath Singh after being elected as party president had announced that the vacant State units’ president posts would be filled by March 10.
