Parents of students studying at the Kendriya Vidyalaya No 1 here have alleged that the school authorities have caused mental agony to their children by asking them to deposit hiked arrear school fees retrospectively from 2009 in violation of a court order. “According to a High Court order, students are required to pay hiked school fees from the first quarter of this academic session. But teachers are misinterpreting the court order and putting pressure on students to submit arrear fees from 2009,” parents said, while sitting in a dharna in front of the school here on Saturday.
They expressed unhappiness stating that teachers are even threatening students to strike out their names from the school register if they don’t pay arrear fees soon. Most of their children are not going to school in fear, they alleged further. Meanwhile, a team of parents led by journalist Girija Shankar Dash, Damodar Mallick, lawyer Ashwini Pradhan, Brajakishor Patra, Deepak Mishra, Pravati Dash and Prashant Swain held discussion with the Deputy Commissioner of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Organisation in the presence of Mancheswar police station IIC Bharat Chandra Pradhan.
While school authorities stick to collect hiked arrear fees from students, parents said they would soon file a review petition in the HC. Keeping this in view, the Deputy Commissioner assured the parents that they wouldn’t be asked to pay hiked fee from 2009 till June 30. But they would pay hiked arrear fees of the last quarter by May 20. The Deputy Commissioner made these commitments in the presence of IIC Pradhan.
