Koraput district’s Kunduli gangrape victim’s mother lodged a police complaint here on Saturday alleging that the SCB Medical College Hospital authorities have kept her 15-year-old daughter in illegal confinement even as her health condition is stated to be normal and stable. The girl had recently made an attempt to commit suicide by consuming ten iron tablets at once.

The girl’s mother in her complaint to the Mangalabag police station IIC stated that the Koraput District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), in connivance with police and doctors of the hospital, has kept her daughter illegally in the mental ward of the hospital.

“My daughter’s mental condition is normal and she wants to go home now,” the victim’s mother said, adding that her family fears that there is threat to the life of the minor girl in the hospital.

The police, however, said that no case is being made out of the written complaint.

Meanwhile, the victim’s mother, who is sitting on a dharna in the hospital campus since Friday, said her protest would continue till her daughter is discharged from the hospital.
