Kumar's HC bail plea decision on Monday

Published on:

Convicted senior IAS officer Vinod Kumar’s bail application in the Orissa High Court on Friday could not be taken up as his petition lacked requisite documents.

Justice JP Das did not consider the bail plea as Kumar’s counsel failed to mention in the appeal memo about the sentence he was awarded by the Vigilance court earlier in the day.

When the appellant prayed seeking permission to correct the appeal memo, the High Court allowed it and fixed the matter to be taken up on Monday.

On the other hand, the High Court granted bail to three other co-accused in the same case, who had been sentenced by the Vigilance court earlier last month.

But the fate of the last co-accused Purna Chandra Das remained in doubt as the High Court could not take up his plea on technical grounds.
