Kudos to Odisha activist who files 10K rights cases

Recently, noted social activist and Supreme Court lawyer crossed the 10,000 benchmark in filing human rights cases in the National Human Rights Commission alone.

As compared to the contribution of Tripathy, a native of Bhardak, he is a lesser known personality in the country. Through his Public Interest litigation (PIl) he has brought a new revolution in the field of human rights issues.

He fought for the hapless lots in the National Human Rights Commission, the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, the National Commission for Minorities, the National Commission for Women, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis to ensure justice them.

His has laid focus on various human rights issues like ensuring basic amenities like drinking water, electricity connection, all- weather road, healthcare and education facilities in the remote areas of India. Acting upon his complaints, petitions and applications, various judicial, quasi-judicial, statutory bodies of the State Governments and Union Ministries, passed ruling on many sensitive issues. His work spreads from Maharashtra to Manipur, from Delhi to Kashmir. His fight for equality before the eyes of law has changed the lives of billions in India.

At a time when the human race is busy in wealth accumulation, forgetting to care for others, under great opposition, his ideas/activism have managed to come through and have revolutionized the face of modern conflicts.

The entire world will forever be indebted to the immense contributions of Tripathy for giving birth to three unique days. The World Clay Day meant for protection of environment. The World Rest Day to recognize and ensure the place of rest in human life. Thinking of neighbours and their role in life, he dedicates a day for them as the Universal Neighbourhood Day. All these days have been celebrated in Bhadrak district of Odisha, of which he is a native.

large numbers of poor, farmers, SCs, STs, victims of State apathy, atrocities and negligence and destitute owe their life, livelihood, psychological outreach to the genius of Tripathy.

As an activist he dreams of recreation as one of the basic human rights of every individual. He is the unsung and unnoticed hero, responsible for resolving many issues including conflicts in north-eastern States, rehabilitation with compensation to millions in Odisha, protection of Jarawa tribes and inhabitants in Andaman Nicober Islands and many other issues across India.

As on date, none has paid a single penny or extended help to Tripathy in the voyage of his struggle for protection of human rights and environment. As an individual, his contribution is unparalleled.
