A Koraput Zilla Parishad meeting was cancelled on Wednesday amid tense situation with the people’s representatives and Government officials coming face-to-face.
The people’s representatives complained that the officials have no coordination with them. Besides, they complained of corruption in execution of developmental projects.
Congress MlAs led by Tara Prasad Bahinipati alleged that the officials are taking commissions in each project. They alleged that the PRI members are not involved in decision making over project selection and execution in schemes like IAY and road construction etc.
In recent transfer of teachers, no public representative was involved, said the Congress MlAs. They boycotted the meeting for which the meeting was cancelled.
Sources said some furniture and assets of the meeting hall were broken. “Everybody has the right to raise voice in democracy, but the incident was quite unfortunate,” said Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi. However, Koraput MlA Krushna Sagaria said no vandalism occurred during the meeting.
