Geet Kaudia, a traditional way of song and storytelling which is mostly found in the rural area, has now lost its identity. In earlier days, the Geet Kaudiya people use to travel in different villages and panchayats and used to sing and say stories relating to mythology. Also, these people are used in political campaigns by different political parties but in due course of time and in this 21st century, the development of social media has pushed them to edge.

According to Bibhu Pattanaik, a local of Boipariguda block, “Though there is no special scheme or compensation for the artistes, still they have kept the tradition alive.”

Raghu Antia (75) of Koraguda village of Boipariguda block said, “Many of our colleagues

have died in penury and our next generation is no more interested to keep the tradition alive as there is no money or scope for this. Besides, in the generation of mobiles and internet, hardly is anyone interested in our story and song.” According to people, Antia is the last Geet Kaudia or story teller of Boipariguda block.
