A Constable of the Bissam Katak police station, Kunja Kishore Padhi, was on Monday arrested for allegedly impersonating as a Vigilance Sub-Inspector and taking bribe.
Sources said Padhi, introducing him as an SI of Rayagada Vigilance office through a phone call, had intimidated CDPO Namita Panda that a case has been registered against her in the Jeypore Vigilance office and the same can be withdrawn if she pays Rs 30,000. Panda informed it to her husband Manoranjan Parichha who then lodged a complaint with the Vigilance SP AK Nayak. Then a team led by DSP SK Bhoi laid a trap and nabbed Padhi while taking Rs 25,000 as bribe from the complainant Parichha at the bus stand here.
