K'put Cong MlAs slam Naveen for 'partiality'

All the four Congress MlAs of Koraput district on Wednesday alleged that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is intentionally neglecting the cyclone Hudhud-affected areas coming under their constituencies. Jeypore MlA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, Koraput MlA Krushna Chandra Sagaria, Kotpad MlA Chandra Sekhar Majhi and lakhmipur MlA Kailash Kulashika alleged this at a Press conference held here. They demanded that they would resort to strike if the State Government continues to neglect their constituencies and does not announce a

special package for the cyclone-hit areas soon.

“Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik shrewdly visited Koraput only. He neither visited affected areas nor met any of the MlAs of the affected constituencies of the district. He paid a just visit to Koraput to hoodwink the people,” Bahinipati said.

The Jeypore MlA pointed out that if the Chief Minister had any intention of providing support to the people, he would have visited all the affected areas and held discussions with people’s representatives irrespective of political parties they belong.  “He didn’t visit us as we belong to the Congress. He is actually politicising the situation,” he said, informing that farmers have lost their crops and have become helpless.

Stating that the Andhra Pradesh Government has already announced a special relief package, Bahinipait slammed the State Government for not announcing such a package for the people and waiting for Central help. Other three MlAs also made allegations in similar voice. “It is undemocratic that the Chief Minister didn’t meet us. People are yet to get help from the district administration. If a special package is not declared soon for the people of our areas, we will go for a strike and will halt all the State Government works,” threatened Koraput MlA Krushna Sagaria.
