In the Chasakhanda village here, a Muslim family, over the last five days, has been spending sleepless nights as the eldest son of the family is stranded at the strife torn Iraq.
The family members have failed to communicate with him. As a result, they have grown apprehensive and have made a fervent appeal to the district Collector and District labour Officer to initiate steps to locate him and bring him back home.
According to sources, Sayed Tahir Ali, son of Sayed Nisar Ali in Golarhaat panchayat within Derabis police limits, had gone to Iraq 10 months back to work as a plumber in a company at Najaf in Iraq.
For the last time, the family members had communicated with him over telephone a week back. He had stated that he was well and there was nothing to be worried. But later, the family members tried several times but failed to communicate with him.
When contacted, District labour Officer Bighanjit Mahant Mohapatra informed that the matter has come to his notice. He has conducted an inquiry and would submit a report on Wednesday asking the State labour Commissioner to take appropriate step, he revealed.
Meanwhile, the minority community members of Derabish organized a special mass prayer in several mosques for the safe return and well being of Tahir and other Indians stranded in Iraq.
