If one goes by the certificates of Satyam Sekhar Raul then there is no ground for denying that Satyam is son of Srimad Sarathi Dev and Om Devi. But a middle-aged couple of Chatarapatana village in Kendrapada district has claimed that Satyam is their fourth child and Sarathi Dev adopted him through due process.
Sarathi adopted Satyam in accordance with norms in the Sub-Registrar office while the latter was only three years old. The woman, identifying herself as Susama Gochhayat, denied that Sarathi and Om Devi were the biological parents of Satyam and demanded a DNA test to ascertain the truth. On the contrary, she said she and one Robin Gochhayat, a fourth grade employee at the local SBI, are the biological parents of Satyam.
Susama stated that while she was suffering from sickness, she went to the Sarathi Ashram with one of her relatives. Sarathi found she had conceived. As a result, Sarathi told Susama and her husband to give the child to him as he wanted to remain a bachelor and would adopt their child. When Babu (Satyam) was only three years old, Sarathi adopted him. Ever since, Babu came to be known as Satyam.
Susama said that though they several times met Satyam butSarathi did not disclose the matter before Satyam that they were their biological parents.
“We did not know that Sarathi was characterless. Thanks to the media, our eyes are now open and Sarathi's misdeeds got exposed. Had we known such things earlier, we would have never allowed Sarathi to adopt our child,” said Susama, adding that her son was innocent and was hiding somewhere to escape quizzing by the Crime Branch. But she urged him to come out from hiding and give all information that he knew about Sarathi and cooperate in the Crime Branch inquiry. “If Satyam wants to return to our family, we are ready to accept our child by completing the legal provisions. But everything depends on Satyam .We leave it to Satyam to take his own decision,” she said.
Meanwhile, a debate is on that if Satyam is the adopted child of Sarathi then how come Om Devi is Satyam's mother as has been mentioned in his certificate.
