Viglance police on Monday arrested Revenue Inspector Debendra Kumar Sahoo of Gualsinghi Revenue Circle under Kendrapada district’s Derabish tahasil on the charge of demanding and accepting graft of Rs 3,000 from a person to issue a land conversion rent receipt.
Acting on a complaint lodged by Madhab Behera of Khandasahi under Kendrapada Sadar police station, the Vigilance police laid a trap and caught Sahoo red handed while accepting bribe money in his office room from Behera. Sahoo’s rented house located at Jyotirmayee lane in Gualsinghi was under search. The sleuths detected Rs 41,000 in cash, a Hero Honda motorcycle and gold ornaments weighing 21 grams from his rented house.
