The Ali police on Thursday arrested an accused from his father-in-law’s house at Naupala under the Binjharpur police limits on the charge of raping a fellow village minor girl in December 2011 at Manpur village under the Ali police station.
Ali PS IIC Umasankar Moharana informed that the arrested was identified as Amar Sethy of Manpur. According to the police, Sethy raped the 15-year-old girl of his village while her family members were absent in her house. When the girl became pregnant, she brought the matter to her parents’ notice. The parents lodged an FIR with the Ali police, but the police failed to nab the Sethy as he fled to Bangalore to work as a plumber there. On Wednesday night, the police knew from a source that Sethy had returned from Bangalore and was staying at his father-in-law’s house. Sethy was on Thursday produced before the JMFC Court at Ali and the court remanded him to jail custody after rejecting his bail plea.
