The Derabish police on Thursday arrested police constable Narottam Bal and forwarded him to the Kendrapada SDJM Court for allegedly outraging the modesty of a 17-year-old girl.
The constable in an inebriated condition outraged the modesty of a +3 first year student of the Derabish College when she was returning from a computer institute by a bicycle, as per an FIR filed by the girl at the Derabish police station.
The accused was remanded into jail custody as his bail petition was rejected by the court, said Kendrapada SDPO Purna Chandra Pradhan.
Necessary legal action would be taken after the inquiry, said Kendrapada SP Nitinjeet Singh.
