The Kurujunga panchayat office under Derabish police station was set ablaze as a result of which many valuable Government documents and furniture turned into ashes. Besides, a laptop was looted from the office.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and started an inquiry. It is said that property worth of lakhs of rupees was gutted. Sarpanch Mamata Manjari Behera lodged an FIR on Sunday. She said that when she rushed to the office premises knowing that it had caught fire, she found that its main gate had been unlocked. She alleged that some miscreants had entered into the office by cutting the lock, looted a laptop and torched the panchayat office after pouring petrol. The case had been registered.
