The Madhubabu Pension Yojana for elderly persons is in a mess in Rajnagar block as nearly 13 fake beneficiaries who are not coming under the guidelines of the scheme have reportedly been availing it under Gupti Panchayat. Thanks to an unholy nexus with Government officials, these people have managed to enlist their names as beneficiaries. The matter has recently come to the fore when the Rajnagar block authority in February last distributed pension under the scheme. It was found that 13 out of 24 beneficiaries of Gupti Panchayat were availing the pension illegally. According to the guidelines, a person can avail the pension when he/she attains 60 years of age. But ironically all these 13 fake beneficiaries are below 60 years of age as per the voter list of 2012. Even, one beneficiary is just 38 years old.
According to sources, the norms to get old age pension were twisted to show favour to these beneficiaries who are between the age 38 and 58 years. These beneficiaries enrolled their names by submitting forged documents, including fake age proof certificate and voter identity card before the block office or Panchyat office. As per the guidelines when a person applies to enroll his/her name in Madhbabu Pension Yojana , verification of the submitted documents is made by Executive Officer of the panchayat .later, a Gazetted officer or the Chairperson of the concerned Panchayat Samiti recommends for pension in favour of the person. The documents of the applicant are also scrutinized by the BDO before they are sent to the Sub Collector for approval. Rajnagar BDO Krushna Chandra Sethy said a probe will be started to identify the fake beneficiaries of the scheme very shortly.
