The Sadar police on Thursday arrested one Shiba Prasad Mallick, a mason of Charigaon village, for his involvement in raping a 20-year-old girl in April last, informed Kendrapada Sadar police station IIC Padarbinda Tripathy. Mallick was on Thursday produced before the SDJM Court of Kendrapada where he was remanded in jail custody after his bail petition was rejected by court.
According the IIC, the victim girl of Jajanga village on April 19 last had lodged an FIR alleging that while she was going to bring turmeric powder from a nearby shop on April 15 evening, Mallick came in a motorbike and offered her lift.
As a result, she went with Mallick. later, Mallick slyly took her to Chandikhole and kept her in a rented house. Mallick allegedly provided drug-laced food to her in dinner . later, when she woke up, she unearthed that she was raped. When, she cried, Mallick promised to marry her . The next day he allegedly kept physical relationship with her against her wish .On April 17, Mallick however fled.
When the victim was returning on Paradip- Chandikhole Expressway alone, one Dushmanta Panda of Ratnagiri village allegedly took her to his home and kept physical relation with her forcibly. Dushmanta later on April 18 put vermilion on her forehead in front of local Hanuman temple and gave assurance of marrying her. On April 19, Dushmant took the victim with him and left her near Santasahi Bridge and returned back. later, Dushmanta denied to have known the girl. Sadar police arrested Dushmant on April 22 on the basis of complaint by the victim.
