Kendrapada District Excise Superintendent Rama Narayan Seth was trapped in Vigilance net on Friday while taking the monthly bribe of Rs 20,000 from the manager of the Gopa-Chowk-based foreign liquor on-shop. Jajpu Vigilance DSP Sisir Kumar Bhoi, who led the Vigilance team, said
Seth was taking the bribe from Shashanka Sekhar Mohanty at his Government quarter in the District Excise office premises. The Vigilance sleuths also seized Rs 1.29 lakh cash from Seth’s quarter. They also conducted raid at Seth’s office and his ancestral house in Bonei at Sundargarh district.
According to Bhoi, Shashanka Mohanty had recently brought to the notice of the Cuttack Vigilance SP that Seth allegedly demanded a monthly bribe of Rs 20,000 for running of the liquor shop or else there would be trouble to run the outlet.
