The Kendrapada Sadar police on Thursday registered an atrocity case against District Education Officer (DEO) Markat Keshari Ray on a complaint that he passed caste remarks on a dalit woman.
According to Sadar PS IIC Sarat Chandra Patra, Tuni Mallick, the organising secretary of the All Indian Samata Sainik Dal, lodged an FIR alleging that the DEO misbehaved with her with caste remarks while she had visited the former’s office to know why a private school teacher Nebedita Sethy was dismissed.
Meanwhile, DHRPC DSP Santanu Kumar Padhi has started inquiry into the alleged matter. The DEO did not say anything though asked over phone to give comment on the allegation.
