District Collector Pramod Kumar Das on Thursday disengaged Kamalakanta Behera, Shiksha Sahayak at the Narasinghpur UGUP School under Derabish block. The action was taken against him due to dereliction of duty, absenteeism and cheating.
Notably, Behera is the prime accused in the BEd scam in the district, in which he managed to embezzle crores of rupees from hundreds of BEd aspirants.He had run a center, the Odisha Distance College of Education (ODCE) and taken hefty admission fees for BEd course. The students had filed complaint with police against him for cheating them of huge sum of money.
According to DPC, SSA Gadadhar Behera, Behera remained absent unauthorisedly since August 16.The Derabish BEO had conducted an inquiry against Behera and found him to be guilty of the charges. The Kendrapada police have filed a criminal case against him. But he is on the run.
