Realising that tender fixing has become a regular feature in the district leading to sub-standard work and delay in completion of various projects, the district administration has come forward to check the practice here.
In this regard, a meeting was organised at the collectorate under the chairmanship of district Collector Pramod Kumar Das. All the line departments’ senior officials, ADM Sasadhar Nayak and SP Satish Kumar Gajabhiye attended.Das stated that the district administration would not encourage tender fixing at any cost. As it has been found that contractors manage to get contract by fixing tender, there is no transparency. The practice hinders fair and timely execution of projects in the district, he said, calling for a need to check the menace.
Das directed all the senior officials to take steps for ensuring more bidders participate in the tender process rather than the usual ones.He also ordered that the proceeding of the tender be video recorded so that its fairness can be examined.As it has seen anti socials and gang members are active in tender fixing, so the district Collector asked SP Gajabhiye to provide security to the bidders for filing their tender papers without any pressure and fear from anti socials.
