Veteran Congress leaders KP Singh Deo, who had so far kept away from electioneering for the party candidates for the Dhenkanal Municipality elections, ultimately campaigned in a few wards on the last day of campaigning on Tuesday.

He was accompanied by former Minister Nabin Chandra Narayandas, former DCC president Dr Bidhan Chandra Mishra and former Municipality Chairman Shreedhar Sahu.

Former local Congress MlA Sudhir Kumar Samal also campaigned for party candidates door to door with beating of drums in Wards-11 and 12 along with former Zilla Parishad president Rebati Behera and concerned party nominees.

Kalinga Sena president Hemant Rath campaigned in Ward-19 for his party nominee being accompanied by party district president Chakradhar Nayak and State youth president Priyabrat Gadnayak.

Former Minister Biswa Bhushan Harichandan and BJP district president and former MlA Krushna Patra also campaigned for their party candidates on Tuesday.

For the BJD nominees, the campaigners on Tuesday included Sadar MlA Nabin Nanda, State Housing Board Chairman Saroj Samal, labour Welfare Board President Jogendranath Tripathy and Parjang MlA Nrusingha Charan Sahu.

Some aggrieved voters had burnt an effigy of MlA Nabin Nanda on Monday alleging that he has failed to keep his promises to people of the town. Nanda had particularly assured that a metalled road would be constructed from Shyamacharanpur to Kaimati.
