The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Monday wrote a letter to State Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro demanding a special session of the legislature on the Kotia issue.
Party State president Rabi Behera in the letter said Andhra Pradesh’s encroachment in Kotia is violation of the Supreme Court guideline. The Odisha Government should immediately move the apex court as the case is pending.
A special session of the Assembly should be held for a detailed discussion on the Kotia issue and the roles of other neighbouring States regarding encroachment of Odisha’s border villages.
The Odisha Government should take up all possible steps to protect the State’s land or else the issue may take an ugly turn like the Assam-Mijoram border controversy, Behera stated.
