Koraput rape: Cong to continue stir

Published on:

The Congress, which is holding a dharna before the Raj Bhavan here against the Koraput gangrape incident, on Friday said the BJD Government is trying to cover up the matter.

“Our mass agitation will continue and, if needed, we will stage a demonstration in New Delhi as we have lost faith on the State Government to provide justice to the victim,” said former MP Pradip Majhi.

The party activists are staging the dharna with a five-point charter of demands.

Party leaders demanded a judicial probe, Rs 50-lakh compensation for the rape survivor and to make the medical report of the survivor public. The party has also threatened to stage a demonstration at New Delhi on November 13 if no action is taken.

“We demand a judicial probe by a sitting High Court judge so that justice is provided to the girl at the earliest,” said the protestors.

Meanwhile, the survivor, a Class-IX student is still undergoing treatment at the Sahid laxman Nayak Medical College Hospital in Koraput.
