The Koraput police cracked the Kella Nagar murder case on Saturday. After investigation, the police arrested Y Ravi Kumar as the prime accused and forwarded him to court. Notably, one G Tirupati Amma of Kella Nagar, Jeypore, was killed by some unknown culprit on December 14 last. The police had registered a case and started an investigation. loot was the prime motive behind the murder, said Koraput SP Charan Singh Meena.
Ravi, who is the cousin brother of the victim, had looted gold ornaments of approximately 350 grams worth more than `10 lakh from the woman after killing her. later, he had mortgaged the ornaments at Jeypore ICICI bank. The police crosschecked the gold ornaments’ model and found them to be the same as told by the husband of the deceased. Ravi later confessed to have committed the crime.
Police also seized some ornaments from Ravi. Jeypore SDPO Rajendra Kumar Senapati and town police IIC Tapan Narayan Rath led the investigation.
