Those wishing to visit the world-famous Sun Temple at Konark will now have to shell out Rs 10 extra for their entry as the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has hiked the entry fee from Rs 30 to Rs 40 for Indian nationals.
Similarly, the fee for foreigners has also been increased from Rs 500 to Rs 600.
A notice in this regard was put up at the temple ticket counter on Wednesday morning.
Opposing the fee hike, members of the Konark Suraksha Samiti locked the ticket counter and main entrance gate.
Police later intervened in the matter, following which the gate and counter were opened.
The protest would be intensified if the ASI doesn’t roll back the increase entry fee, said a Samiti member.
