A super specialty hospital with 500 beds at Rs110 crore will be established in Puri for benefit of the locals, pilgrims, tourists and especially the lord’s servitors.
At the request of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Aravind Padhi, Medical Synergy Group, Kolkata, chief executive Dr Aloke Roy visited Puri and had a detailed discussion on the matter.
The proposed hospital will have all modern facilities of international standard, with CT Scan and free ambulance of 24 hours, among others.
The Group is said to have rich experience of establishing several such hospitals in other States .
While the entire project cost will be borne by the company, the SJTA in turn will provide five acres of its own land at Jagannath Ballava near Malatpatapur.
The land will continue to be in the name of the SJTA while the hospital will be managed by an 11-member trust board which will be accountable to the SJTA.
The Gajapati Maharaja, the SJTA Chief Administrator, the district Collector, the SP, the Financial Advisor and a servitor representative will be the board’s members.
Dr Roy will be its Managing Trustee who will also nominate three specialists to the board. The proposal will be sent to the State Government for approval after which an MOU will
be signed.
However, it is learnt that the proposed land has already been given to the Government in the Commerce and Transport Department for construction of a new bus stand at Puri. A PIl has been lodged in the State High Court recently against the project.
