Popular bird conservationist and vice-chairman of Wild Odisha NK Bhujabal inaugurated a photography exhibition for children “Know Your Birds” at the Odisha Modern Art Gallery here on Sunday. The show is organised by the Soumya Memorial Trust in collaboration with the Odisha Modern Art Gallery.

The exhibition, which will continue till September 11, explores more than 100 types of bird species, both resident and migratory, of the State in their natural habitats. All the photographs are taken by Pramod Dhal, Superintendent of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax and his daughter Gloria, an MTech student.

The pictures are shot at natural habitats of various locations including the Botanical Garden, Dhauli, Khandagiri, Chandaka and Shikharchandi hill, the Chilika wetland at Mangalajodi and the Bhitarkanika mangrove ecosystem. The father-daughter duo’s photography has been tremendously noted by international ornithologists like Tim Inskipp.

Soumya Memorial Trust chairman Kanhu Charan Parida said, “This exhibition is an attempt to spread awareness on bird conservation especially among children. Both the photographers’ lenses bring the message from the feather friends that they need our help.”
