District and Sessions Judge Janab Md Azmal convicted accused Gopinath Nayak of ladapanga under the Daringbadi police station in a kidnap and rape case and sentenced him to undergo 20 years of imprisonment, besides a fine Rs50,000.
An FIR was lodged against Nayak and another co-accused (a minor boy) by a minor girl on July 23, 2014 that both had kidnapped the victim on July 22 at about 7 pm while she was returning from her elder father’s home. The accused persons took her by a Bolero jeep covering her face with a black cloth into the Sarangada jungle and after raping her cast off her alone in the jungle.
The victim said she was crying all the night and only the next morning she was rescued by some locals whose houses were nearby. Phiringia police had registered a case.
While adjudicating the case, the Judge examined 14 witnesses.
