Kandhamal MP Pratyusha Rajeshwari Singh adopted Bilabadi gram panchayat under Khajuripada block in the district under the recently-launched Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) in the presence of all district-level officers on Thursday. While there are 32 villages in Bilabadi gram panchayat, but the villagers are yet to get proper electricity and communication facilities. However, the district administration has provided solar energy. By 2016, Bilabadi would become a model village, said the MP, adding that Khajuripada BDO will be the in-charge officer for this.
District Collector Dr N Tirumala Naik presided over the meeting. Notably, the SAGY scheme, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 11last year, is a rural development programme, under which the MPs will take the responsibility of developing physical and institutional infrastructure in villages and turn them into model villages.
