Additional District Judge Rajendra Kumar Tosh here on Friday awarded life imprisonment to Niranjan Panigrahi and his sister Gitanjali Dash for killing Panigrahi’s wife Narmada by setting her on fire after poring kerosene on her at Sirtiguda village under the K Nuagaon police station in Kandhamal district.
The judge also imposed a fine of Rs25,000, in default of payment of which the convicts would spend five months more in jail. The Judge convicted the two after examining 16 witnesses and acquitted the mother and a brother and a sister of the accused.
