KKD alleges illegal pumping of river water by firm

The Kosal Kranti Dal (KKD) has raising voice against the broad daylight loot of land, forest, water and minerals by the mines and jungle mafias, tainted industrialists and dishonest Government officers.

An incident of such nefarious activities has come to light following an investigation by a team of the Koshal Kranti Dal (KKD) activists and journalists. The Mahabir Ferro Alloys limited here is accused of allegedly siphoning gallons of water from the river Sankh near Beldihi village. The company has a pump house on the riverbank where pumps and motors have been set up with a metre to measure the quantity of water drawn from the river.

But there is a bypass line underneath through which the company has been allegedly drawing gallons of water to its plant for several years. By this, the company is expected to have gained crores of rupees at the cost of the Government exchequer. Surprisingly, on the other hand, the departments concerned, the police and the district administration seem to remain silent over the matter, raising doubts of their connivance with the company.

Besides, the company has incorporated a thin pipeline for drinking water supply to the village, but the villagers are yet to avail water from it. There are signs of a law and order situation arising in the area due to the growing resentment among the locals.

The KKD has demanded an inquiry into the issue and arrest of those responsible for the situation. The party has also filed an FIR at the Brahmani Tarang police station and urged the Sundargarh Collector for his intervention in the issue, said KKD working president BN Mishra.
