The Keonjhar police arrested and court forwarded one Rabin Chatteerjee, loading contractor of Bansapani area under Joda Police Station on Tuesday, on the charges of violations of MMDR Act, theft and dishonesty in receiving stolen property.

Sources revealed that Chatteerjee alias Pintu (32) is a native of West Bengal. He is licence holder of Sainath logistic, a trading company under the circle of Joda Deputy Director of Mines.

He was engaged in job of loading and transporting as a contactor in Banspani railway station. It was alleged that he had unholy alliances with some mining mafias, particularly some crusher owners, who were sending trains loaded with theft iron ore to factories situated out side the State, causing huge loss of revenue to the Government during the infamous mining scam.

Earlier, the police had court forwarded Gautam Chowdhury, owner and two staff members of the United Crusher, said to be the main link of Chhatterjee on November 12 last. Though the licence is in the name of Chhaterjee but the real contractor is Dukhdev Sarkar, a close aide of local leader Sanatan Mahakud.
